Now Weddell Seals it is time to complete Task 2.

The AESB now needs you to look at any treaties or laws that exist in relation to the area of Mineral Exploration.

You need to inform the AESB of the following information:

1. What does the word treaty mean?
2. What treaties already exist or have existed in relation to mineral exploration in Antartica?
3. What the laws or proceedures that these treatie/s have put in place regarding mineral exploration over the past 60 years?
4. Have these treatie/s, laws or proceedures been effective in preventing damage from mineral exploration to Antartica over the past 60 years? Why or why not?
5. What are the most important aspects of these treaties? Why do you as researchers believe this?
6. Who and what countries are in charge of these treaties, laws and proceedures?


The AESB needs you to create your own version of a treatie for mineral exploration. Please inform the AESB of why you have choosen the specific treatie/laws/proceedures you have, why they are important and why you think they will be effective if put in place.
